Lessons from the land: a journey of learning by Peru’s rural communities that are successfully tackling climate change

The great journey ahead for tackling climate change. How a competition can become an invaluable compendium.

This photographic exhibition presents the best images of the 20 projects which reached the finals of the competition ‘Climate Change Best Practice in Rural Areas’ in 2014, organized by the Ministry for the Environment with the support of Swiss Cooperation, via the Climate Change Adaptation Programme (PACC). This vast amount of visual material is part of the book Lessons from the land: a journey of learning by Peru’s rural communities that are successfully tackling climate change, which collates the stories of the practices and represents overwhelming proof that there is valuable knowledge in Peru’s countryside that can help us to adapt to climate change. None of these communities know each other, but together they have formed a veritable legion of people who protect our ecosystems. A legion which, we are sure, will continue to grow.
