Switzerland contributes over CHF 26 million to projects and initiatives for integrated air pollution control and climate change, such establishing the basis for air quality monitoring for example, national and local action plans for clean air, and awareness-raising activities in Central America, Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru. Another crucial focus is the reduction of air pollution in the transport sector through diesel particulate filters and the introduction of norms and standards for vehicle emissions and fuel quality, mainly through the reduction of sulphur content, from Latin America to Asia.

Switzerland is aware that despite progress and advances, there are still many challenges posed for reducing air pollution. In line with its commitment towards the fulfilment of the 2030 Agenda, in the framework of its 21-24 cooperation strategy and the Paris Agreement, Switzerland will therefore continue to work through the SDC to support its partners around the world in their fight against climate change and in striving for clean air, poverty reduction, health improvement, environmental protection and sustainable development.
