[Inclusive Climate Change Adaptation] Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru increase resilience of the most vulnerable Andean populations

The regional project Andes Resilientes al Cambio Climático (Resilient Andes to Climate Change), an initiative promoted by the Swiss Cooperation (SDC), facilitated by Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation and Fundación Avina initiated in 2020. It has the aim of strengthening and coordinating the public and private actors’ capacities to provide services that strengthen resilience and capacity of the most vulnerable populations in the Andean region of Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia, by focusing on improving water and food security.

Between October 2022 and January 2023, the non-profit NGO Mecanismos de Desarrollo Alterno (Alternate Development Mechanisms – MDA), carried out the mid-term external evaluation of the regional project Resilient Andes, to determine the relevance of the initiative, the reflection of the impact in the fulfilment of the objectives, the contribution to nationally determined contributions (NDCs) from a regional and global perspective, the ownership by partners, and the actions’ sustainability. The mid-term evaluation served to have guiding information to properly conclude phase 1, and assess the relevance of starting a second phase.

We are pleased to share, through four infographics, the evaluations’ main results, the main lessons learned, and the experts’ recommendations regarding a second phase of the regional Andes Resilient project in the region.
