Contribution of traditional Andean knowledge to Andean reforestation

Traditional knowledge refers to the cumulative general and technical knowledge maintained, tested and applied by peoples for millennia, which guide local societies’ interaction with the surrounding environment (Chianese 2016). In the particular case of Andean ancestral cultures, they did not use writing, therefore, they transferred their traditional knowledge to the next generations through oral tradition (CINDITEL 2012).
