The Minister of Urban Development and Housing (Miduvi), Darío Herrera, and the Ambassador of Switzerland, Marianne Jenni, representing the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), signed the inter-institutional cooperation agreement to implement the Capacity-Building for Energy Efficiency in Buildings in Latin America (CEELA) project.
Ecuador has joined Peru, Mexico and Colombia which are already involved in this initiative for capacity-building for construction professionals and workers. This will enable them to design buildings with energy efficiency, thermal comfort and to apply with competence technologies and materials appropriate for social housing projects in Ecuador.
Marianne Jenni highlighted the coordination between the public, private and academic sectors, above all for drafting and implementing regulations for the new knowledge to be put into practice. The CEELA project is working on creating an alliance between these countries to achieve effective action for the care of the planet.
The guest of honour, the Minister of Environment, Water and Ecological Transition (MAATE), Gustavo Manrique, highlighted the importance of designing buildings with affordable electrical installation systems, to make it easier for people to be careful with energy consumption, but above all with the planet.
Pablo Lloret, executive director of the Latin American Future Foundation and CEELA project Ecuador manager, highlighted the work for achieving a thermal balance for buildings in both hot and cold areas, as they improve people’s quality of life and the proper use of energy.
