The CEELA project stands as a testimony to Switzerland’s commitment to advancing sustainability, energy efficiency, and gender equality in the construction sector of Latin America, challenging the myth that home comfort is exclusive to affluent sectors.
This regional initiative, driven by the Climate, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Environment Section of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), is managed from the Lima Regional Hub, highlighting Switzerland’s role in promoting sustainable construction practices and building a more inclusive and resilient community. Through this important partnership, the project has not only achieved important milestones concerning sustainable infrastructure but has also laid the groundwork for enduring and beneficial change, underscoring the effectiveness of collective action in addressing environmental challenges amidst climate change.
In 2024, the CEELA project sets new challenges with its second phase, aiming to deepen its mission of promoting sustainable development, focusing intensely on training, fostering the adoption of sustainable construction concepts in the private sector, serving as tangible examples of sustainability, and strengthening the regulatory framework in the construction sector. With the support of its partners and allies in the region, as well as the tireless effort of its technical team, it is committed to paving the way towards a more sustainable future for Latin America.
The first phase set an important precedent, illustrating the potential of integrated design and the importance of specialized training. Along the way, the project has sought to inspire decision-makers and the community at large, showing that it is possible to build a more sustainable and equitable environment.
